Bucket 40: A Versatile Lay-on Wash Basin

The Bucket 40 wash basin, designed by Studio Talocci Design, draws inspiration from the familiar shape of a bucket. The designer explains, "Its essential shape recalls different moments of our lives: the bucket we play with on the beach, the ice bucket for a romantic evening or a pleasant party with friends, the bucket of paint for a painter, or the basketball for sports enthusiasts."

What sets the Bucket 40 apart is its ability to seamlessly integrate into any bathroom setting. The basin's handle doubles as a towel rail, adding a functional element to its design. This unique feature makes it ideal for public places like gyms, restaurants, pubs, and schools, as well as for children's bathrooms or those who appreciate an informal style in their own bathroom.

Made of ceramic and produced by casting, the Bucket 40 wash basin showcases the high quality of traditional materials. Its dimensions of 405mm width, 405mm depth, and 350mm height make it a compact and versatile choice for various bathroom layouts.

During the design process, Studio Talocci Design faced several challenges. The technical knowledge of Scarabeo Ceramiche, the manufacturer, was crucial in overcoming obstacles related to the manufacturing process. The smooth and regular surface of the truncated cone-shaped ceramics proved difficult to control, and the connection between the basin and the handle/towel rail required a specific junction designed exclusively for this product.

The Bucket 40 wash basin was first presented during the Cersaie fair in Bologna in September 2012. Since then, it has garnered recognition for its innovative design. In 2014, it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category. This prestigious accolade is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill.
